DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this Custodial Worker 1 role, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the Northwest Office Building and its surrounding facilities. This includes dusting, mopping, washing, waxing, and sweeping various surfaces, with training provided in proper cleaning methods. We will rely on you to operate and care for various tools and equipment and to report observed safety hazards, needed repairs, or other discrepancies to a supervisor for action. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be willing and able to work in Dauphin County
  • You must be willing to work full-time
  • You must be willing to work 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM
  • You must have experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
  • You must have experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
  • You must have experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors
  • You must have custodial work experience in environments such as an activity/recreation room, bathroom/shower or bathing room, cafeteria/dining room setting, entranceway/lobby/common space, nursing station, patient/resident rooms, pharmacy, or physical therapy rooms
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing, etc.)

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation. An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code. Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
