Join us as our new Set Up Technician for Weekends

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Setup Technician to join our dietary supplement manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, technical product knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role requires expertise in SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Dies) principles, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The Setup Technician will also step in as a general operator when needed, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining compliance with FDA and 21 CFR Part 111 regulations. The weekend shift works hours of 5am-5pm Friday-Sunday

In this role you'll make an impact by:

Safety and Quality Assurance

  • Prioritizing safety at all times by adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring all tasks are performed in compliance with FDA regulations, 21 CFR Part 111 requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Conduct quality checks during setups and production to confirm product standards are met. Demonstrate Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) compliance.

Machine Setup and Operations

  • Performing efficient machine setups and changeovers following SMED principles to minimize downtime.
  • Calibrating, adjusting, and troubleshooting equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to production specifications.
  • Operating machinery during production runs when required, ensuring consistent output and quality.
  • Conducting basic mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance to minimize disruptions.
  • Diagnosing and resolving equipment issues using root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Collaborating with maintenance teams to address major mechanical or technical challenges.
  • Proficiency in generating controlled documents (e.g., SOPs, WI, Forms) for setup, maintenance, and equipment operation.
  • Training and mentoring operators on equipment functionality and proper procedures.
  • Communicating effectively with team members, leadership, and other departments to ensure smooth operations

Continuous Improvement

  • Driving process improvements by identifying inefficiencies and proposing solutions to enhance productivity.
  • Participating in Kaizen events and other lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Documenting and analyzing operational data to support ongoing improvements.
  • Ability to learn advanced continuous improvement methods and tools, and put them into practice.

To succeed you must hold:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred. 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in the dietary supplement, pharmaceutical, or food industries.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations and 21 CFR Part 111 compliance is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and equipment. Knowledge of SMED principles and their application in manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Technical product understanding with the ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience conducting root cause analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

Location: Wausau, WI (On-Site)

Expected Salary: $19 an hour plus weekend shift premium
