Qualifications

Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent and experience equivalent to two years of full-time work in one or a combination of construction inspection or any mechanical work including but not limited to welding, plumbing, HVAC, hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical systems.

Necessary Special Qualifications:
Must possess a valid vehicle operator's license. Must meet eligibility requirements for a commission issued by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.

Overview

Under immediate supervision, is trained to perform boiler inspection work of routine difficulty and performs related work as required. This is the trainee-level class in the Boiler Inspector sub-series. An employee in this class learns to perform routine inspections of boilers and pressure vessels. This class differs from the Boiler Inspector 1 in that an incumbent of the latter performs at the entry level.

Responsibilities

1. Learns to perform job functions of commissioned Boiler Inspectors
2. Learns how to identify code violations by senior inspectors
3. Learns what is required to pass the National Board of Boiler Inspectors commission exam
4. Responsible for completing the apprenticeship program 380 book in the allotted time
5. Responsible for completing practice tests in the allotted time
6. Other duties as required.
