Leave earning employees (staff and 12-month faculty) who work at least half of the working days of their first month of employment will begin accruing vacation and sick leave immediately. Paid parental leave after 12 months of continuous service.

Position Summary
*PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF WESTERN CAROLINA UNIVERSITY. EXTERNAL CANDIDATES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

Become a vital member of the senior leadership team in the newly established Division of Undergraduate Enrollment & Student Success, dedicated to nurturing the personal, social, and intellectual growth of students within a diverse campus community. Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Enrollment and Success, you will oversee key areas including Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Aid, University Scholarships, University Advising, and New Student Orientation.

In this role, you will be instrumental in developing innovative strategies to attract, recruit, and enroll a highly qualified, talented, and diverse student body. You will also facilitate a seamless transition for new undergraduate students to WCU and support them in financing their education. Collaboration is essential, as you will work alongside units focused on recruiting distance learning and graduate students.

Additionally, you will provide leadership and actively engage in various committees and groups beyond the division, contributing to the overall mission of our institution.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship or any other immigration-related assistance.
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution, awarded on or before the hire date.
  • At least seven years of full-time, progressively responsible administrative experience in higher education in enrollment management, student success, or a directly related area.
  • At least five years of full-time supervisory experience over professional staff, including direct supervision of managerial-level employees.
  • Documented responsibility for developing and implementing recruitment and/or enrollment strategies that resulted in specific, measurable increases in student enrollment, retention, or inclusivity, supported by institutional or departmental data.
  • Documented experience leading formal cross-unit or cross-divisional projects or committees within a higher education setting.
  • Documented responsibility for preparing and delivering written reports, formal presentations, or policy recommendations to senior leadership or governing bodies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Documented responsibility for meeting or exceeding institutional enrollment or retention targets for at least three consecutive academic years.
  • Documented use of institutional or market data to inform decisions in recruitment, enrollment, or retention, with evidence of actions taken and outcomes achieved.
  • Documented responsibility for representing the institution at state, regional, or national-level professional conferences, meetings, or recruitment events.
