***A&A SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT - Full-Time - Hybrid Work Model (Norco, CA)***

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Assessment & Authorization (A&A) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support cybersecurity compliance and Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities for DoD systems. The A&A SME will serve as the primary point of expertise for security controls assessment, authorization package development, and ensuring compliance with DoD, Navy, and federal cybersecurity requirements.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), staying focused on the assigned tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead A&A efforts in alignment with DoD and Navy RMF guidelines
  • Develop, review, and maintain RMF documentation including System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms)

  • Conduct security control assessments and provide recommendations for remediation

  • Coordinate with system owners, engineers, and ISSOs/ISSMs to ensure security compliance throughout system lifecycle

  • Support the preparation of authorization packages for submission to Authorizing Officials (AOs)

  • Track and resolve cybersecurity risks, findings, and vulnerabilities

  • Ensure compliance with DoD policies, NIST standards, STIGs, and Navy cybersecurity guidance

  • Provide subject matter expertise during audits, inspections, and security reviews

  • Mentor and advise team members on A&A and RMF processes

Basic Qualifications:

  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered
  • United States Citizenship required
  • Active Secret clearance

  • CISSP certification (required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years of experience supporting A&A/RMF in a DoD or federal environment

  • Strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, DoD RMF, and DIACAP to RMF transition

  • Experience with eMASS and cybersecurity compliance tools

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Navy cybersecurity programs and NAVIFOR/NAVWAR A&A processes

  • Hands-on experience with HBSS, ACAS, and vulnerability management tools

  • Prior experience supporting system accreditation for large-scale DoD IT or weapons systems

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams or mentor junior cybersecurity staff
