The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding an Associate Instructional Designer to our growing Enterprise Sales & Marketing division in Seattle, WA.

The Associate Instructional Designer will assist in the creation of engaging, effective learning solutions across multiple formats (eLearning, instructor-led, blended learning, etc.). This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about learning and development, has strong attention to detail, and is eager to grow in the field of instructional design. Working closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other members of the Talent Development team, the Associate Instructional Designer will help develop content that meets the learning needs of employees and supports the company's business objectives.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Design & Implement

  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop learning objectives, content and design.
  • Manage instructional design projects to completion on time and within budget.
  • Communicate regularly with project teams and provide updates on progress and timelines.
  • Design, develop and deliver courses and training materials, including eLearning modules, participant guides and course PowerPoint presentations.
  • Use adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to create engaging, learner-centered content.
  • Create compelling and interactive learning activities and assessments to enhance the learning experience.
  • Write and edit technical and procedural documents, such as job aids and guides.
  • Evaluate learning and development programs and identify opportunities for improvement from an instructional design perspective.
  • Stay up to date on emerging learning technologies and explore how they can be integrated into learning programs.

Build support, structure and resources for company-wide talent development

  • Build creative and engaging learning materials, courses, and experiences to support learning needs across the business.
  • Contribute to the professional credibility of the Talent Development function and team.
  • Participate in the development of Talent Development strategic and operational plans.
  • Collaborate to optimize the LMS as a curriculum content delivery mechanism.
  • Collaborate with teammates and business partners to provide integrated service to our clients.
  • Performs other duties as required.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design/Technology, Education, Communication, or related field.
  • Enthusiasm for leveraging technology to create innovate and impactful learning solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Instructional Design principles and software.
    • Required experience in Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on PowerPoint and Word. SharePoint experience preferred
    • Preferred experience in Articulate 360 and Vyond
  • Understanding of:
    • Adult Learning Theory
    • ADDIE, SAM
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to proofread and edit content.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Select appropriate instructional formats based on audience and content
    • Plan and manage course design projects
    • Work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $45.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
