Full Time-/Day Shift /8am-4:30pm

Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington, D.C.

General Summary:



  • Under the general supervision of the Medical Director of Anatomic Pathology, microscopically examines human cellular samples from various body sites in accordance with departmental procedures and policies; considering clinical history of the patient, marks pertinent findings; makes the preliminary cytological interpretation for non-gynecologic samples; performs quality control checks; oversees the receipt, accessioning and processing of cytology specimens; performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:



  • A Bachelor's Degree and must have graduated from an approved cytotechnology program as outlined in CLIA >88 (Fed. Register Friday, Feb. 28, 1992 Vol. 57 No. 40).
  • Course work in molecular modalities is highly desirable.
  • Work requires knowledge of biology, anatomy, and physiology, and detailed knowledge of cytology and cytological preparation techniques normally acquired through completion of an accredited one-year cytotechnology program.
  • Must qualify as a cytotechnologist under CLIA 88.
  • ASCP certification required.


Experience:



  • Prefer 2 years of cytotechnology experience screening non-gynecological specimens including fine needle aspirations.


Salary Range: Minimum 37.02/hour - Maximum 61.07/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
