Description
Spok is seeking a Senior Database Analyst to join our Value-Add Services team and play a key role in designing and delivering customer data-driven solutions for internal and external customers. This role blends technical expertise with consultative skills, requiring experience across database administration, data analysis, application development, and business intelligence reporting.
Required Duties and Responsibilities
Database Administration:
>Knowledge of MS SQL/Oracle products (Data Guard, Fast Start Failover).
>Assist with SWAT tasks from PSG for escalations.
>Researching new MS SQL/Oracle products and how they integrate with Spok products.
Maintaining Customer Data:
>Troubleshoot customer data interfaces (sqlldr, SQL, PL/SQL, HL7, API).
>Data cleanup, manipulation, removal, and review of current data within the Spok schema.
>Data extracts for customer/other review.
>Develop custom SQL scripts, database objects, and server scripts (i.e., Bash/PowerShell) to support internal and external business needs.
>Support data integration and ETL processes to ensure timely and accurate data flow between systems.
Consulting:
>Serve as a technical consultant to internal teams and clients, identifying data opportunities and designing practical solutions.
>Engage directly with customers in consulting projects and workshops to deliver existing data services in the VAS portfolio.
>Deliver reporting services for Oracle and SQL Server database environments, including configuration, maintenance, and tuning of these solutions

>Build, enhance, and maintain reports and dashboards using tools like SSRS and Power BI to drive insight and decision-making.
>Function as subject matter expert in the development and delivery of new data-driven value-added services, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
Communication:
>Communicates with various Spok departments regarding their roles and performance requirements.
>Directs and performs follow up as necessary to complete projects and elicit customer satisfaction.
Documentation:
>Translate business and operational requirements into functional specifications and technical designs.
>Document solutions and provide training or knowledge transfer as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and two to four years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. >5+ years of experience working in a hybrid data role, including database management, application development, and reporting.
Must be customer service oriented
>Solid understanding of Oracle and SQL Server databases, including SQL, PL/SQL, and T-SQL development
>Experience with reporting and BI tools such as SSRS, Power BI, or Tableau
>Familiarity with ETL tools and data transformation best practices
>Strong analytical mindset with a consultative approach to problem solving
>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
>Advanced analytical and problem- solving skills
>Experience working in a professional services or client-facing environment
Technical Requirements:
>Strong Knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL
>Strong Knowledge of Oracle 19c, and MS SQL
>Strong knowledge in ETL operations and data integrations between various systems
>Knowledge of Functions, Procedures and Triggers
>Database Performance Tuning
