Job Summary:

Be part of an exciting expansion of our Intermediate Stepdown Unit.

The Stepdown Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a vital member of the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) care team. The primary responsibility of the APP is to manage higher-acuity adult patients within a 30-bed IMCU unit. The IMCU team delivers comprehensive acute care for patients in collaboration with various consultants.

Patients may be transferred from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or directly admitted from the hospital floor, Emergency Department (ED), or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). They may present with a range of conditions, including diabetic ketoacidosis, stroke, renal failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, oncologic/hematologic emergencies, electrolyte imbalances, hypertensive emergencies, ENT, neurological, and intra-abdominal surgeries.

The APP works closely with critical care intensivists, ICU hospitalists, and fellow APPs to provide direct patient care within the IMCU. APP responsibilities include performing physical exams, collecting and documenting data, conducting approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling lab studies and consultations, and prescribing appropriate interventions and medications. Additionally, the APP will manage IMCU consults in collaboration with attending physicians and work closely with the ICU consult service.

IMCU is covered 24/7 by APP team.

Position is for rotating shifts, days/nights, nights only are also available.

This position is a great entry-to-practice position, and we welcome new-to-practice APPs. We provide a robust training program that will give the needed training for all new APPs. After 12-16 months of employment, there may be opportunities to receive training in a high-acuity ICU.
