Position Summary

The Office of Advising Strategies is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and highly organized Administrative Assistant 2 to help us advance student success across campus. This position plays a key role in supporting our programs, projects, and day-to-day operations.

This position will work alongside our diverse
set of specialized areas
that serve the advisement and student success community. This requires a
range of skills and a
knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. The successful candidate will support and spend time at both the Transfer and Transition Student Center (Bldg. 85) and the Testing and Training Center (Casas del Rio). Regardless of location, our work will always focus on student
success.

What you will do:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for students, staff, and faculty-providing friendly, professional assistance.
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, and events for the Advising Strategies team.
  • Assist with managing communications, including emails, phone calls, and written correspondence.
  • Maintain and organize office records, databases, and files.
  • Support projects related to academic advising, retention, and student engagement.
  • Process invoices, track budgets, and manage office supplies.

Fine Print:

  • This position is not eligible for remote/hybrid work schedules.
  • The current schedule for this position is M-F, 8-5 with the possible exceptions for flex on a case by case basis.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • General
    knowledge of UNM and its policies and processes
  • Desire to
    assist the UNM student population and support of Student Success Partners
  • Knowledge of
    the Microsoft 365 product family beyond basic Office Suite.
  • Ability to follow direction as demonstrated by specific requirements addressed in the cover letter.
