Purpose The purpose of this position is to support automotive performance fluid validation via analytical test methods to enable R&D formulation development, along with quality control of existing fluids. The Lab Technician will be involved in preparing samples for analytical evaluation and supporting the quality team in analytical problem-solving for root cause analysis within manufacturing sites. They will be responsible for maintaining lab consumable supplies while promoting proper safety practices and good housekeeping.
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Checking and restocking consumable lab supplies
- Logging samples and updating materials database
- Calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Sample preparation and basic analysis (washing, measuring, filtering, pH, etc.)
- Setting up and running samples on instruments including ICP, UV-Vis, HPLC, IC & GC-MS.
- Preparing technical reports for internal and external stakeholders, covering the validation of refined test methods and analytical investigations into quality concerns.
- Maintain good relations and communication with members of the team to promote a positive culture within the lab
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Must have at least an associate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering sciences, or other related fields
- Prior professional experience in similar industries is an advantage
- Must be detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills and self-starter mindset
- Must have good time management skills and the ability to work on varying tasks simultaneously
- Must have a good work ethic, be reliable, and enthusiastic to learn new skills
- A strong team player able to interact with the business and research team
- Should be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done, ask for clarity or additional instruction when needed, and work independently as well as cooperatively with the team
