Position Summary

McKesson's Law Department is seeking a motivated and collaborative attorney with 5 - 8 years of experience to join our Manufacturer Relationships legal team. This role provides legal support for McKesson's pharmaceutical distribution and sourcing operations, with a focus on manufacturer and downstream customer contracting, private label initiatives, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will serve as the main point of contact for key business units on legal matters and provide day-to-day counseling on issues related to pharmaceutical distribution, regulatory compliance, and other legal aspects specific to healthcare. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including management, sales teams, and business development, to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in healthcare law and commercial contracting, and a desire to grow into a strategic legal advisor within a dynamic and highly regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including distribution agreements, master services agreements, data use agreements, downstream customer agreements, and vendor contracts.
  • Provide day-to-day legal support to the manufacturer customer segment, including branded, generic, OTC, and specialty pharmaceutical suppliers.
  • Support legal aspects of private label and repackaging initiatives, including related regulatory and compliance considerations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across sourcing, operations, compliance, and finance to ensure alignment with legal and business objectives.
  • Monitor and interpret healthcare laws and regulations relevant to pharmaceutical distribution, including anti-kickback statutes, government price reporting, 340B, and antitrust.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of contracting policies, playbooks, and process improvements.
  • Prepare legal memoranda, issue summaries, and presentations for senior attorneys and business leaders.
  • Escalate complex legal issues to senior counsel as appropriate, while exercising sound judgment and independence in routine matters.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing of a U.S. state bar.
  • 5 - 8 years of legal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, with exposure to healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceutical sectors.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Strong commercial contracting skills, including experience negotiating complex agreements.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory frameworks and compliance obligations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered legal research tools and conversational AI to enhance contract analysis, regulatory tracking, and workflow efficiency.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Minimum Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$134,500 - $224,100
