The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program at the University of Colorado Denver is a grant funded program under the federal TRIO grants. TRIO SSS is designed to assist first-generation, low-income and/or students with disabilities in their transition to and retention at the University.
The TRIO SSS Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the Program Manager, is responsible for the daily delivery of services to participants, as well as developing and coordinating the programmatic aspects of the TRIO SSS program.
TRIO Program Coordinator:
What you will do:
* Create and implement academic success planning and personal development programs for SSS participants.
* Assist the Program Manager in the recruitment and selection of program participants.
* Maintain a caseload of students for academic success planning, financial aid advising and personal development activities.
* Conduct needs assessments of SSS participants on his/her caseload.
* Maintain current records on all program services, evaluates all activities and prepares written reports.
* Assists in the coordination, development and implementation of the monthly student newsletter.
* Assists with the development and coordination of cultural, social and service-learning events.
* Coordinates ongoing training sessions for student peer mentors and office staff.
* Represents the program at various university and community meetings and functions and participates on college wide committees.
* Assist in purchasing and procurement processes as needed.
* Plan outings for SSS students to engage in co-curricular activities that help to build community and belonging.
* Support the Project Specialist, the Program Manager and Director in budget management.
* Lead workshops and sessions designed to help and support SSS students with academic success.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
* A Bachelor's degree in education, public administration, business, communication, social science, psychology, or closely related field
* One (1) year of experience working with diverse student populations, such as first-generation, low income and/or students with disabilities within student programming.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
* 1 year of professional level experience in higher education working with a diverse college student population.
* Experience developing and delivering workshops and other learning enhancement activities and training sessions.
* Work experience with a federal TRIO grant program, particularly in Student Support Services.
* Experience with teaching, training, mentoring, program management and college advising.
* Experience in aiding students with study skills development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
* Outstanding customer service skills
* Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
* Experience with Microsoft Office suite software; PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher.
* Familiarity with higher education policies, particularly as they pertain to the retention and graduation of college students.
Conditions of Employment
* Grant Funded - This position is currently only funded for up to 5 years through August 31, 2030. If additional funding is granted, the position may be extended but not guaranteed.
* Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.
* This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences, and approved by the Director. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.
* This position may require an onsite presence on campus 5 days a week, depending on the time of the year.
Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements
* The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work; often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.
* Moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
* May work events that are outside.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $47,481 - $52,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
