Job Title: Research Scientist

Job Summary:

The Department of Ophthalmology seeks a half-time (0.5 FTE) Scientist for a one-year appointment. The successful candidate will join CellSight - the Ocular Stem Cell and Regeneration Program and will conduct research in the field of stem cells and regenerative medicine for the retina.

Key Responsibilities:

* Culture, maintenance and expansion of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC)

* Quality control of hiPSC lines and cultures

* Differentiation or 3D retinal organoids from hiPS cells

* Lead research project(s) aimed at developing novel stem cell-based technologies

* Design and execution of experiments; collection, analysis and interpretation of data

* Contribute to research projects led by other investigators, by assisting in specific techniques and intellectually contributing to the experimental design

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Ph.D. in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with cell culture and animal models of eye diseases

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience within an experimental or wet lab within the eye field

  • Experience in cell culture

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of advanced laboratory techniques in molecular biology, gene editing and protein biochemistry
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good working relationships with diverse employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Responsibility and reliability are critical for this position
  • Ability to interpret complex rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to listen and follow precise protocols and written instructions.
  • The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, a fast learner and possess excellent time management and organizational skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$40,000-45,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
