Operations Department

Vantage operates mission-critical data centers for the world's largest technology firms. The operations department is responsible for setting and maintaining high operating standards across the fleet, and ensuring uptime, reliability, security, and customer service. The team includes Site Operations, responsible for the day-to-day running of the facilities and supporting infrastructure. The sites are staffed 24 x 7 with Critical Facilities Engineers (CFEs) on each shift. The Reliability Engineering Team is responsible for the setting maintenance standards, ensuring consistency and quality of site operations across the fleet, and provides subject matter expertise in the areas of electrical, mechanical, controls & automation, influencing across design, procurement, construction and commissioning. The Security Team ensures Vantage facilities are safeguarded and well monitored, and is responsible for access control, CCTV, security staffing, security design, and engineering. Lastly, the Business Operations Team is responsible for service support, KPI management, vendor relations, standards & transformation, and property management.

Position Overview

This role can be based in any of our US locations: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA.

The Senior Director, Data Science will lead a high-impact team responsible for delivering advanced analytics, financial modeling, and geospatial intelligence to support Vantage's most critical business decisions. This role will collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to shape data-driven strategies that drive growth, operational efficiency, and long-term planning. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who can assess business needs, build strong relationships across the organization, and independently define a roadmap for delivering high-value insights. The Director will be responsible for building scalable analytics capabilities, mentoring talent, and embedding a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Essential Job Functions

Advanced Analytics & Modeling:

  • Lead the development of advanced analytics solutions including predictive models, financial forecasts and scenario analyses that directly inform enterprise decision-making.

  • Translate complex data into actionable insights that support strategic planning, capital allocation, and operational execution.

  • Partner with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities for data science to drive value.

Financial Modeling & Decision Support:

  • Enhance financial modeling efforts by integrating predictive analytics techniques that improve forecasting accuracy, scenario planning, and risk assessment.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Strategy, and other business units to develop scalable, data-driven tools that support capital planning and long-range decision-making.

  • Introduce innovative approaches that modernize financial insight generation and align with enterprise planning needs.

Geospatial Intelligence:

  • Integrate geospatial data and tools into analytics workflows to support infrastructure planning, market analysis, and risk assessment.

  • Guide the development of GIS-enabled dashboards and decision-support tools.

Technology Integration & Enablement:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure analytics solutions are aligned with enterprise technology platforms and digital workflows.

  • Support the integration of data science capabilities into business systems and tools that enable automation, service delivery, and customer engagement.

  • Contribute to the design and deployment of scalable analytics features within broader technology transformation initiatives.

  • Work in close partnership with the VP, Enterprise Excellence to ensure analytics solutions are grounded in operational realties and aligned with enterprise improvement initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing analytics team with diverse skill sets.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and analytical excellence.

  • Define team priorities, performance metrics, and development plans.

  • Demonstrate strong business acumen and executive presence by independently identifying opportunities, shaping the team's direction, and aligning efforts with enterprise priorities.

Innovation & Best Practices:

  • Stay current on emerging trends in data science, AI/ML, and geospatial analytics.

  • Promote the adoption of modern tools, methodologies, and ethical data practices.

Additional Duties:

  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, GIS, Finance, Mathematics, or a related technical field is required.

  • Master's degree or higher strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or geospatial intelligence, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven success delivering enterprise-scale analytics and financial modeling solutions in complex, multi-functional environments.

  • Experience working directly with executive leadership and influencing business strategy through data insights.

Skills:

  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and geospatial tools for data manipulation and modeling.

  • Advanced skills in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent platforms.

  • Strong financial modeling skills, including scenario planning and ROI analysis.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data into strategic recommendations.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences including senior executives.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Proven problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity.

Travel:

  • Travel is minimal but may be required up to 5% for collaboration or training purposes.

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $230,000-$250,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
