Job Summary
Auburn Advancement is excited to begin the search for a Systems Engineer to join our Operations and Strategy Team! In this role, you'll analyze technological trends, develop technical solutions, and help ensure the stability and efficiency of the University's information systems.
What You'll Do:

Evaluate and Innovate: Stay ahead of technology trends to identify and implement solutions that meet the evolving needs of the University. Focus on automation, system monitoring, and data analysis to improve performance, enhance security, and support capacity planning. Continuously explore and test new technologies while refining backup and disaster recovery processes to ensure resilience and reliability.

Optimize Operations: Ensure the stability and efficiency of university systems through proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. Oversee system updates, backups, and disaster recovery efforts, while maintaining compliance with university and industry standards. Document processes, support testing and deployment activities, and provide responsive on-call support when necessary.

Facilitate Fundraising Initiatives: Strengthen the University's fundraising capabilities by developing and maintaining technical systems that power campaign efforts. Design effective workflows and configurations, improve system integrations, and ensure platforms are equipped to support donor outreach, engagement, and campaign execution.

Champion Philanthropy: Advance donor engagement and stewardship by supporting systems that manage donor data and communications. Provide technical expertise and actionable insights to enhance donor management practices, using data-driven recommendations to improve processes and increase fundraising success.
Essential Functions
Purpose:

  • Support fundraising efforts by developing and maintaining systems that enable successful campaigns and donor engagement.
  • Ensure University technology needs are met through effective system management, planning, and implementation, leveraging tools such as Salesforce automation (Flows, Triggers) and API integrations.


Collaboration:

  • Work closely with advancement teams to design workflows and system configurations that support fundraising initiatives, using technologies like Java, JavaScript (including Lightning Web Components), and SQL.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify technology gaps, provide support, and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, draw on strong communication skills and a passion for creative problem solving.

Innovation:

  • Evaluate new technologies, analyze system data, and implement tools to improve performance, security, and capacity planning. This includes working with web services (SOAP/REST), data formats (XML, JSON, YAML), and source control tools like Git.
  • Recommend and test enhancements to systems, backups, and disaster recovery processes, while staying current with best practices in API management and system architecture.

Production:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot systems to ensure stability, efficiency, and compliance with university standards, including Salesforce MVC architecture and HTTP-based integrations.
  • Manage system updates, documentation, testing, and provide on-call support when needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 11 years of relevant experience OR
  • Associate's degree and 7 years of experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience.


Scope of Experience: Relevant IT experience in the administration of distributed computer systems
