Job Description:

AMA seeking a high-temperature materials Engineering Intern. The ideal candidate for the high temperature materials engineering position should have experience with micro-x-ray computed tomography (CT) and in-situ micro-x-ray CT mechanical testing. Experience in test and working with refractory composites is a must. Additionally, candidates should possess strong analytical skills, micro CT analysis, and familiarity with industry-specific software and technologies. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are also essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities:
  • Correlate internal features such as porosity and thermal stress cracks within the ceramic matrix composite (CMC) to the material property.
  • Establish correlation between internal features to the material properties using micro-X-ray CT and validated with experimental data.
Requirements:
  • Must be pursuing a degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in working with ceramic matrix composites is highly desirable, as it involves understanding the unique properties and behaviors of these materials.
  • Familiarity with techniques for analyzing and modeling their microstructures can significantly enhance the accuracy of machine learning models.
  • Hands-on experience with data collection and processing specific to ceramics will be an asset in developing robust characterization methods.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident due to facility requirements.
