What You'll Do As the Environmental Coordinator, you will assist the local implementation of environmental compliance, company policies and programs related to environmental management systems, and sustainable development; and oversees or performs the work necessary to insure adherence to environmental regulations, and attainment of business values and objectives. Other duties include:
- Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm
- Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations
- Live and foster the company values
- Ensure required environmental data is being collected, reviewed for QA/QC, downloaded, make calculations, draft reports and route internally for comments (e.g., environmental manager, plant leadership.) Ensure reports are submitted to regulatory agencies prior to due dates.
- Perform environmental inspections and collection of remote monitoring data, document, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain and update technical environmental plans (e.g., GreenHouse Gas Monitoring Plan).
- Ensure routine samples are being collected by the onsite lab staff and review analytical results for QA/QC.
- Maintain necessary certifications/licenses (e.g., opacity, potable water.)
- Work with plant staff to evaluate abnormal plant conditions and corrective actions.
- Work with vendors/consultants on environmental projects and reporting (e.g., groundwater monitoring, stack testing.)
- Research questions from plant staff and provide appropriate response.
- Ability to prioritize routine work and requests (e.g., compliance vs conformance.)
- Review new and existing environmental regulations and advise company of any compliance obligations.
- Advise company management on compliance strategies that will require significant capital investment or increases in operating costs in order to meet corporate business goals.
- Assist company leadership in planning for compliance with regulations in connection with new or modified operations (e.g., new equipment, chemicals/processes, demolition) in order to assure compliance.
- Conduct training for operating personnel in order to meet regulatory, safety and business needs.
- Assist in the preparation of permit renewal applications, responses to notices of deficiency, notices of violations, surveys, reports and any other requests for information from environmental agencies
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in environmental engineering (preferred), environmental science or related disciplines such as civil/chemical engineering, or chemistry required.
- 4+ years technical experience, including work with environmental regulations and manipulating large volumes of data.
- Knowledge of environmental programs, controls, liability abatement and management systems.
- Solid, practical understanding of federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations. Compliance skills to address corrective action with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to interact and discuss issues with regulatory compliance officials
- Advanced computer skills and abilities (Including Microsoft Office Suite, DataParc/ParcView, FITIRI). Candidate will be accessing data collecting software, creating/linking/editing large complex excel workbooks and drafting technical regulatory reports (e.g., Air/GHG, Water, Waste).
