Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Med Assistant-Transcript (FGP).
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for completing clinical and administrative duties that assist in the delivery of effective patient care within assigned practice. Under the general direction of the physician (for documenting) and Office Manager, the Medical Assistant is responsible for a variety of patient care duties and other related duties in the clinic setting that include patient flow, physician assisting, documenting/recording, telephone calls, and other clerical duties.
Job Responsibilities:
- Documents patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
- Obtains vital signs, weights, and EKGs when needed, and all other tests within the scope of the practice. Assists with blood collection/phlebotomy as needed.
- Assists patients and communicates with Physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
- Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and are prepared for the next patient. Assists with light housekeeping duties, which include spills.
- Assures completion of patient charges as per policy.
- Assists patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating and maintaining comfort.
- Assists physicians with procedures (e.g., GI procedures, all medical exams).
- Cleans and sterilizes designated equipment after use.
- Answers telephone in treatment area and assists staff in scheduling treatments.
- Assist with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas. Assists in escorting patients and specimens throughout the facility.
- Ensures the chart is available, with relevant lab work and test reports if indicated, for the physician when the physician sees the patient.
- Stocks exam room/treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms. Notifies the Office Manager when supplies are low.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Accompanies the physician into the exam room and transcribes history, including history of present illness, past medical and surgical history, family and social histories, medications and allergies, physical exam, laboratory and radiologic orders as dictated by the MD and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient.
- Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Upon hire or entry into the position, must hold a current Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous scribe experience preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $52,692.00 - $58,953.05 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
