The Sustaining Engineer will support the Sustaining Engineering department by reducing product delivery lead times, improving Bill of Material (BOM) accuracy, and enhancing communication and coordination with the department. Success in this role will be measured by a strong emphasis on drawing accuracy, the timely completion of deliverables, overall productivity improvements, and working hands on with the Production floor to troubleshoot issues, and conduct product validation testing.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Responsible for identifying the need and defining paths for redesigning and/or maintaining products for various including (but not limited to) product improvement, revised standards, cost reductions, economies of scale, and standardization for configuration and management simplicity.
  • Manage and prioritize the Engineering Change Order and Product Improvement processes, including orchestrating both engineering and/or production validations as required.
  • Utilize the Engineering Change Order and Deviation processes to coordinate across Planning and Materials departments to keep the production floor running smoothly
  • Review and determine actions for Product Improvement requests, prioritizing based on safety, performance, or other urgency.
  • Oversee and coordinate impacts to BOMs, drawings, operations, marketing, etc.
  • Manage and organize electronic and hard copy filing structures as required.
  • Ensure BOM and Parts master reflect the latest validated and released designs.
  • Maintain Sustaining Engineering and Design Standards & Processes.
  • Monitor Sustaining Engineering Project Timelines.
  • Drive success through metrics and KPIs.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.

OTHER:

Shift Mon - Thursday 2pm - 12:30am

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Three (3+) years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer/Sustaining Engineer
  • Previous experience with Inventor and/or Solidworks is required
  • Ability to take initiative and be resourceful
  • Ability to communicate and work with colleagues/teams in different departments professionally and effectively
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties, the employee will be working in an office environment with exposure to the plant floor as well as the Engineering Test Facility. The employee is required to sit, stand walk, use hands to handle objects and other tools. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to lift to 25 pounds.

  • Work in office environment or work in a manufacturing environment
  • May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting.
