Medical Records Tech

The Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center - Willamette Valley's largest privately own multi-clinic cancer care center - is looking for a Medical Records Tech to join our team. An important part of the patient experience, the Medical Records Tech helps to maintain, protect, and distribute medical records for all WVCI clinics. A strong understanding of medical office operations, as well as high level of computer competency are desirable skills for this position. Experience in medical records is a plus! This role will also support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $18.00-$34.03. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Copies, mails, and/or faxes patient chart information as requested and authorized, documenting all processes.
  • Assists in preparing and filing all internal and external correspondence and medical reports into patients' electronic medical record according to filing system.
  • Gathers medical records from community providers to prepare charts for new patient visits.
  • Makes copies of dictated interval notes accordingly.
  • Assists in purging deceased and inactive charts as scheduled and according to guidelines.
  • Sends outgoing faxes and distributes incoming faxes.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
  • Prepares correspondence, memos, forms and other typing as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years experience, preferably in a medical office setting
  • Previous experience in a medical records experience preferred

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
