Learn more about the benefits of working at UC Brief Summary of Job Duties: Under general supervision of the Humanities Administrative Support Center (HASC) Student Services Manager, the Religious Studies Undergraduate Program Coordinator is responsible for independently overseeing all aspects of the Religious Studies Undergraduate Program. Provides academic advising for majors, minors, and potential new students. Collaborates with colleagues within HASC, as well as other campus offices such as the College of Letters and Science, EAP, DSP, and the Office of the Registrar to provide holistic and accurate guidance to all students. Coordinates undergraduate services including preparing and managing the quarterly schedule of classes, updating annual copy for the general catalog, and submitting and managing master course approvals. Maintains departmental statistical reports and completes IRAL and Instructor Workload reports. Works closely with the Department Chair and Faculty Undergraduate Advisor to address issues affecting students. Required Qualifications:

Job Functions/Percentage of Time/Duties: Undergraduate Program Coordination- 40% Coordinates and oversees all aspects of the undergraduate program in Religious Studies. Provides accurate and comprehensive advising to all students by maintaining a detailed understanding of departmental major and minor requirements, as well as general University and College of Letters and Science policy and procedure. Competently utilizes a variety of systems such as STAR, AAA, CourseDog, eGrades, Ad Astra, ASSIST.org, DSP Portal, etc. to assist faculty and students. Establishes and maintains an organized filing system to track student progress and administrative actions. Using information from the annual curriculum plan, the Office of the Registrar, and faculty teaching availability, creates and manages quarterly course schedules including space assignments, cross-listings, and enrollment maximums. Facilitates major sheet requirement updates annually, and assists with the development of brochures, flyers, and other publicity materials for the undergraduate program. Coordinates departmental participation in undergraduate recruitment fairs and student orientations. Works with the Faculty Undergraduate Advisor and the Office of Public Events to manage events relating to commencement including the annual departmental awards ceremony and reception. Administrative Support- 40% Completes IRAL and Instructor Workload Report, and tracks course enrollment statistics and trends, providing past and current data to managers and Department Chair as requested. Coordinates with faculty and the Curriculum Committee to submit new course proposals and course modifications to the Course Approval system. Facilitates submission of general education proposals to the Academic Senate, keeping detailed records of processing status. Collects and files course syllabuses for departmental record keeping. Works with the HASC IT Coordinator to update and maintain accurate undergraduate information on the departmental web page. Monitors departmental course enrollments in relation to minimum enrollment requirements and facilitates maintenance of course waitlists, approval codes, and finals schedules. Coordinates DSP exams by working closely with instructors and the Disabled Students Program. Book Orders - 10% Performs tasks related to ordering textbooks for the Department of Religious Studies. Submits textbook adoptions to the UCSB Bookstore and desk copy requests to the textbook publishers when appropriate. If desk copies are unavailable through the publisher, independently determines most cost effective option. Works with library staff to ensure instructors Miscellaneous Duties - 10% Provides backup support as needed for the East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies department, particularly during graduate admissions in Fall quarter, and collaborates with all HASC advising staff regularly. Manages departmental room calendar, fielding reservation requests and using independent judgement to make reservations appropriately. Assists Department Chair and managers with academic research and development, and other duties as assigned.
