Job Summary |
The Reif Research Laboratory is seeking a
TES Research Technician for a Fall Semester 2025 Research Study. Primary responsibilities will include conducting animal and arthropod handling and monitoring. Other duties will include data entry, arthropod maintenance, study setup preparations, and some laboratory work (e.g. blood sample processing, performing diagnostic tests). No previous experience is necessary. Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Four-hour blocks of time or longer are best.

Essential Functions |
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with research activities
- Daily observations of animals and/or arthropods
- Maintenance and propagation of arthropods
- Conducting diagnostic tests and reporting results
- Handling and restraint of animals
- Data collection and recording
- Collection of specimens (e.g. blood)
- Perform general lab tasks and other assigned duties
All lab staff undergo supervised training by experienced laboratory personnel until they are fully trained and competent. |

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license.
Expectations:
- Ability to follow study protocol and procedures.
- Display high motivation and have experience handling animals.
- A positive attitude, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are desired.
- Some weekend and evening hours are required (these are few and dates/times will be made available well in advance).

Desired Qualifications |
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a Biological Science field (pre-vet, animal science, or similar) or at least one year of laboratory experience including experience with animal and/or arthropod handling. Candidates with strong data collection and record keeping skills are preferred. |
