Description Painter Location: Abbeville, LA Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The Painter is responsible for preparing and applying protective and decorative coatings to various surfaces including equipment, structures, and metal components. The role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and adherence to project specifications and quality standards. - Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Conduct and review a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) before starting any task.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, or blasting to remove old paint, rust, and contaminants.
- Apply coatings including paint, epoxy, enamel, and sealants using brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
- Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces such as various metal types for finishing.
- Mask and cover surfaces using tape, drop cloths, and paper to protect areas not to be painted.
- Ensure proper adhesion and uniformity of coatings through careful application and inspection.
- Inspect painted surfaces for quality and conformance to project specifications.
- Maintain all painting equipment in clean and serviceable condition.
- Follow proper disposal procedures for hazardous materials and paints.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sweeping the area daily or as needed.
- Always present a positive and professional attitude toward customers and colleagues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 2 years minimum relevant experience
