Job Title: Electrical Engineer III

Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension)

Location: Houston, TX 77079



Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer III will manage electrical and control systems design for large-scale expansion and maintenance capital projects. This role involves overseeing third-party engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards, and coordinating cross-functional engineering requirements across teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Design oversight for high-horsepower turbine and motor-driven centrifugal compressor stations (10,000-30,000 HP).
  • Ensure system compliance with NEC and other regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and third-party engineering firms to execute projects on time and within budget.
  • Review and approve design documents, drawings, and technical evaluations.
  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Manage electrical scope for systems involving:

    • Power Systems: 120V-4160V systems, switchgear, grounding, cathodic protection.
    • Controls: Allen-Bradley PLCs, Wonderware interfaces, PID control, ESD systems.
    • Instrumentation: Pressure/temperature transmitters, level gauges, flame/gas detectors.


  • Guide junior engineers and support internal department initiatives.
  • Coordinate vendor selection based on technical merit, cost, and delivery.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet safety, environmental, and corporate requirements.
  • Report regularly to project managers and supervisors on cost, schedule, and risks.


Qualifications:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in engineering/project management, preferably in industrial or energy sectors.
  • Strong understanding of NEC requirements and hazardous area classifications.


Preferred:



  • PE (Professional Engineer) license.
  • Experience with compressor station design and operations.
  • Knowledge of large-scale power distribution and control systems.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
