Daikin Applied is seeking a Manager, NPI Design and Drafting who will provide leadership and mentorship to multiple Design teams. Position will be responsible for the training and deployment of best practices into the Team, interacting with Central Engineering Excellence to define continuous improvement of Standard Design work and procedures implemented into the organization, and collaborating with the Program Managers and other technical leaders to fulfill Project Deliverables. Location: Hybrid, Plymouth, MN

What you will do:

• Manage and develop a core talent resource pool of about 60 FTE's un the US and Mexico, which includes direct reporting Supervisors as well as indirect leadership of their teams of individual contributors
• Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
• Conduct regular review and report out on department workloads, capacity and performance metrics. Provide regular updates on these performance metrics, including the development of any GAP closure plans
• Develop resource plans to support the design demands of the organization, working with the Design leadership, Marketing and Engineering to estimate and project current and future demands
• Provide and oversee the budgeting process for their organization, working with the Business Unit controller to develop and manage to budget for each fiscal year
• Possesses strong project management and communication skills. Serve as project leader for various drafting initiatives. related to major or minor projects
• Able to provide strong leadership to his/her direct team and guide cross functional groups through design processes using strong communication skills. Able to present ideas clearly and gain acceptance. Including the ability to drive the team to closure of deliverables
• Play a key Business Unit strategy role in scenario planning and estimating and then deploy resources to deliver on NPI product development roadmaps.
• Fulfill the Department product Design documentation content, including 3D-CAD and Item Creation, to EPLM, ERP, and BOM configuration systems and tools for consumption by multiple manufacturing sites according to BU Project Plans and Schedules.
• Develop and direct teams across the Daikin organization including our Mexico Engineering Design Center (MEDC), and external LCC resource pools developing teams to support his/her department needs.
• Travel could be up to 25% including some international travel

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university in Engineering or a related field; Associate degree/ certificate (A.S.) or job experience in the management of a design or engineering organization
• 10 or more years of experience in product design leadership or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Extensive knowledge of configurations and bill of material structure
• Ability to write and create design documentation, including 2D and 3D data and drawings, Bill of Materials, Layouts
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and executives
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Preferred Qualifications:

• PDM, PLM and/or CAD experience

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300 - $158,000 plus a 15% bonus in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
