| About This Role 
 The Director of IT Governance will lead the establishment and implementation of a comprehensive IT governance framework that aligns technology investments with K-State's strategic objectives. Embedded in the Division of Information Technology, this role will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the CIO and institutional leadership, and will emphasize cross-functional collaboration, transparency in decision-making, and institutional accountability. 
 This leader will also oversee the university's IT Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring that project portfolio management supports governance priorities, drives institutional efficiency, and delivers value across all major academic and administrative units.
 
 This role is critical to our ongoing IT transformation initiative and will provide executive leadership with the strategic oversight needed to maximize technology value while effectively managing risks across the enterprise. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, academic units, and IT teams to ensure technology decisions support K-State's Next-Gen strategic plan.

 Minimum Qualifications: 
 
 
 Requires a bachelor's degree and five to 10 years of relevant experience
 
 
 Preferred Qualifications: 
 
 
 Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field with an IT focusMaster's preferredMinimum 7 years of progressive IT leadership experience with at least 5 years in IT governance, IT portfolio management, or strategic planning rolesHigher education experience strongly preferredDemonstrated experience in higher education IT environment, preferably at a research-intensive institutionExperience leading large-scale IT transformation or governance implementation initiativesTechnical and Professional CompetenciesProven ability to design and implement governance frameworks in complex, matrixed environmentsDeep understanding of IT governance frameworks (COBIT, ITIL, ISO 38500, etc.)Experience with IT portfolio management and project governance methodologiesExperience leading PMO teams and managing large, enterprise-level projectsStrong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, ITIL, Agile)Leadership and Management SkillsProven ability to work effectively with senior executives and academic leadersExcellent communication and presentation skills with ability to think strategicallyDemonstrated success in building relationships and fostering trust and collaboration across academic and administrative unitsExperience managing cross-functional teams in matrixed organizations with strong facilitation and consensus-building skillsChange management expertise with ability to drive cultural transformationUnderstanding of the unique value proposition and complexities of higher educationBackground in higher education administration or academic affairsStrong knowledge of enterprise architecture principles and practicesExperience with vendor management and contract governanceKnowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in higher education settingsFamiliarity with research computing, data management, and academic technology needsKnowledge of emerging technologies and their governance implications
