Enterprise Storage Engineer - Remote

Join Mutual of Omaha as an Enterprise Storage Engineer supporting our IT Infrastructure team. In this role you are responsible for the management, support, and optimization of enterprise storage platforms across both distributed and mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in administering a variety of storage technologies, including IBM, SVC, Hitachi, NetApp, and mainframe storage systems, as well as experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Engineer I: $95,000 - $115,000, plus annual bonus opportunity
  • Engineer II: $115,000 - $130,000, plus annual bonus opportunity
  • Engineer III: $130,000 - $145,000, plus annual bonus opportunity

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise storage systems including SAN/NAS environments.
• Administer and support storage platforms such as IBM (including SVC), Hitachi, NetApp, and mainframe storage solutions.
• Monitor storage performance and capacity; proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Execute and refine backup and recovery strategies to ensure data protection and business continuity.
• Collaborate with application, server, and network teams to design and implement storage solutions that meet business requirements.
• Manage storage provisioning, zoning, and replication tasks.
• Participate in audits, disaster recovery planning, and storage compliance initiatives.
• Provide on-call support and perform off-hours maintenance as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise storage administration with proficiency in IBM SVC, Hitachi Vantara, NetApp storage systems, mainframe DASD/Tape technologies and backup and recovery systems (e.g., Cohesity).
• Experience with storage monitoring and management tools.
• Familiarity with SAN fabric technologies and protocols (Fibre Channel, iSCSI).
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills including creation of documentation procedures in clearly and accurately terms.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

PREFERRED:

• Industry certifications in storage technologies (e.g., IBM Certified Specialist, NetApp NCDA, Hitachi HDS Certification).
• Experience with automation and scripting for storage management tasks (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
• Familiarity with cloud storage integration and hybrid environments.
