Job Description

As the Maintenance Manager, you'll lead and supervise the maintenance team to ensure efficient servicing of production machinery, equipment, facilities, utilities, and grounds. We'll lean on you to drive cost reductions through improved machine uptime, reliability, energy efficiency, and optimized labor utilization.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to maintain equipment in "near new" condition.

  • Monitor performance standards related to safety, labor laws, equipment reliability, and uptime.

  • Oversee maintenance activities by internal staff and contractors, ensuring high standards of safety and workmanship.

  • Prepare scopes/specifications for major tasks and projects.

  • Manage work order systems and data analysis tools to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Maintain facility infrastructure, including buildings, grounds, fire protection systems and security systems.

  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and initiate purchases as needed.

  • Oversee equipment layouts and facility modifications.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, SQF, GMP, and ISO standards.

  • Track key metrics: uptime/downtime, root cause of line failures and time to fix tracking, MEFF, spending, and mean time between failures.

  • Manage maintenance budget, purchase orders and negotiate and manage service contracts.

  • Administer disciplinary actions and mentor staff.

  • Plan and execute major shutdowns for preventive maintenance.

  • Collaborate with Health & Safety and Production teams on safety improvements.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail, urgency, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Maintenance, Engineering or related field

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of automated equipment, robotics, and conveyors

  • Proven leadership and coordination skills with the ability to train and develop staff

  • Provide 24/7 support for production operations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and reading engineering documentation

  • Effective communication and decision-making abilities

  • Experience with regulatory compliance (OSHA, SQF, ISO, NFPA, ANSI)

Preferred:

  • Experience with plastic film manufacturing machinery or similar

  • Green Belt certification
