Villa Gardens Retirement Community is Hiring! Dietary Aide II Full Time / Hourly Day Shift, including Weekend Availability Salary Range: $20.84 - $24.70/hr. JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Director of Dining Services or Executive Chef Supervision, the Dietary Aide II completes a variety of tasks related to the final preparation, assembly, and delivery of food to the residents and performs designated work and cleaning routines by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. * Provides quality Customer Service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction. * Sets up trays with place mats, napkins, utensils, condiments and beverages as prescribed by diet order or requested by resident, including sick trays. * Sets dining tables for meals as directed. * Serves residents in the dining room or resident's room. * Perform defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Services Director or Executive Chef. * Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals. * Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies and procedures. * Supervises or assists with cleaning work-station after each meal and at the end of the shift. * Supervises or assists with the removal of trays and carts and return to dishwashing area. * Supervises or assists with the setting of tables and refilling of condiments. * Supervises or assists with salad, dessert, and sandwich preparation and service. * Prepares special diets. * Instructs diet aides in routine tasks. * Setting up the dining room and serving residents. * Assists with the cleaning and maintenance of dining area, including tables and furnishings after meals. * Reports to Supervisor of supply or equipment needs; damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair; unsafe or malfunctioning equipment; conditions conducive to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin. * Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies. * Attend in-service educational programs. * Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties. * Follow defined Infection Control procedures. * Be knowledgeable of Federal, State, and Facility's rules, regulations, policies and procedures. * Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Dietary Services Director or Executive Chef. * Follows highest standards of cleanliness. Follows all federal, state and corporate policies, health codes and guidelines in preparation and handling of foodstuffs. * Follow department safety standards, practice correct body mechanic techniques and participate in campus-wide safety programs. * Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Wears safety equipment as required for the job. Reports any safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor. * Attends all mandatory in-service meetings. Complies with all department and facilities policies and procedures. * Understand facility's fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies. JOB REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. * Less than high school education; or up to 1 month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Ability to read a limited number of 2 and 3-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. * Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple 1 or 2-step instructions. * Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
