Salary range:
The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $175,000. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The salary range listed is for base compensation only and may be adjusted depending on qualifications and experience. The salary range does not include variable compensation and is subject to the individual department compensation plan. Please note that eligibility for the Health Sciences Compensation Plan requires an FTE percentage greater than 50%.

Position description

The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis seeks innovative and highly motivated master's degree or doctorally prepared physician assistants to join the faculty at UC Davis Health in Sacramento, California.

A dynamic team of interprofessional faculty focus on preparing entry-level physician assistants, especially for underserved areas. Nearly 60 percent of UC Davis physician assistant graduates work in primary care. Launched with a vision to advance health through leadership, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis seeks physician assistant faculty to collaborate with faculty from multiple disciplines and further this vision to prepare clinicians who deliver care as members of health care teams. Faculty fully participate in the development of the school's high-impact and interprofessional programs. Physician assistant faculty provide a combination clinical teaching activities, including didactic instruction, clinical skills lab instruction, curriculum development and assessment, and coordination of course activities related to the didactic and clinical phases of the program.

Part-time and full-time, non-tenured positions at the Assistant and Associate rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) Series are available at UC Davis Health, which is located on a modern, 140-acre campus in Sacramento, California. The Sacramento campus is home to the School of Nursing, School of Medicine, UC Davis Medical Center (including a level-I trauma center and burn unit, and a full range of outpatient services), a fully accredited Children's Hospital, and an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Practice locations include UC Davis Health Medical Center, UC Davis department and primary care network clinics, Sacramento County clinics, local FQHCs and other clinical sites.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include working in collaboration with the program directors and program faculty to ensure quality program curriculum and instruction in the didactic and clinical phases of the program. Duties include course management, teaching, skills labs, student advisement, and student formative and summative evaluation. Responsibilities may also include participation in student remediation, test writing and analysis, program admissions, accreditation processes, and program assessment to include serving on committees essential to physician assistant programs and school's functioning.

These faculty will also be involved in scholarly activity and committee service commensurate with this position. Successful part-time candidates may do a pro-rated portion of the activities described above.

A candidate for appointment in the HSCP Series shall be evaluated by the following criteria, which shall be appropriately weighted according to the primary emphasis on clinical and clinically-relevant teaching and patient care services and also according to the needs of the school and the individual's responsibilities in the specific discipline. The four criteria are:

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Basic Qualifications

A Master's degree or Doctoral degree (e.g., EdD, PhD) is required. The candidate must meet the following qualifications, depending on profession:

* Graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program with active PA national certification.

* Candidates must have worked a minimum of two years as a licensed PA.

* Must be comfortable in a highly interactive fast paced teaching/learning environment that includes collaborative teaching, significant faculty/student interaction, and strong clinical integration.

* Must be comfortable evaluating student performance in didactic and clinical phases of the program.

* Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

* Successful candidates will value the school's Mission and Core Values, and will support the university's commitment to community service, equitable care for all, strategic planning, and the intellectual and professional development of all students.

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

Prior experience teaching in a PA program is desirable and five years working as a licensed PA is preferred.
