Overview

The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Senior Analyst is responsible for the analysis, data correction, and overall performance of Con Edison's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system. Utilizing applications like the Head End System (HES), Meter Data Management System (MDMS), Meter Asset Management System (MAMS), and ProField Encore, this role performs meter and account analysis to identify and resolve issues impacting data delivery for customer billing, outage management, and life safety operations. This is a critical role for maintaining high meter communication rates and read delivery performance across the AMI system. Core responsibilities include creating and analyzing business reports, querying production databases, initiating corrective actions, providing application support, and collaborating cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement of AMI operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AMI technologies, experience with meter data management systems, proficiency in data analysis tools, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Senior Analyst is responsible for the analysis, data correction, and overall performance of Con Edison's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system.
  • Utilizing applications like the Head End System (HES), Meter Data Management System (MDMS), Meter Asset Management System (MAMS), and ProField Encore, this role performs meter and account analysis to identify and resolve issues impacting data delivery for customer billing, outage management, and life safety operations.
  • This is a critical role for maintaining high meter communication rates and read delivery performance across the AMI system.
  • Responsibilities include creating and analyzing business reports, querying production databases, initiating corrective actions, providing application support, and collaborating cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement of AMI operations.
  • Perform daily analysis and initiate corrective actions for non-functional metering and sensor assets in the AMI System. Ensure assets are functioning properly and delivering data utilized for business operations.
  • Query application production databases utilizing SQL developer, MS Access, Tableau and other data tools to drive metering asset function and management. Work within production databases to correct asset or account discrepancies.
  • Analyze and correct asset configuration management to drive reads and billing performance metrics for customer accounts. Support customer meter and billing inquiries as required.
  • Direct technical contractors working for the AMI Operations department in support of routine program work, planned projects and emergent work.
  • Support major AMI application releases, business testing, and operational events as required for AMI Operations.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant work experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills with ability to identify root causes and develop effective solutions for AMI-related issues (meter communication failures, data quality, system integration). Required
  • Demonstrated experience investigating discrepancies in information, managing working queues and identifying discrepancy patterns and data trends. Required
  • Team experience supporting management initiatives to achieve department goals or key performance indicators. Required
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (SQL, Developer, MS Access) and data manipulation/visualization techniques on both micro and macro levels to execute informed business decisions. Required
  • Experience developing, generating and analyzing business stakeholder reporting. Required
  • Excellent communication, collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Required
  • Equivalent/Relevant work experience is inclusive of Customer Billing and Account Management experience in either CECONY or ORU business systems (CSS/CIMS/CCB and MDMS); OR Software Development and Testing Experience for CSS/CIMS; OR equivalent meter data management ; OR Meter Operations or Metering Asset Management experience. Preferred
  • Experience with meter data management systems (MDMS), meter asset management systems (MAMS), and other AMI-related software applications as it relates to company billing/accounting or work management systems. Preferred
  • Knowledge of utility billing systems, customer information systems, and integration with AMI data. Preferred

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime and travel within the Company service territory as needed.
