Overview

Maintains quality assurance programs, policies, processes, procedures and controls ensuring that performance and quality of services conform to establish standards and agency guidelines. Coordinates the UW Self review process. Accountable for targeted reviews such as One & Done, agent specific, coverage related, and policy construct along with the aggregation and analysis of their results. Acts as subject matter expert in areas including but not limited to E&S Underwriting appetite & policy construction, pricing, regulatory issues, workflows and automated systems. Completes other quality assurance reviews of accounts as needed/requested. Ensures compliance with departmental policies & procedures, guidelines, rules, authority levels and regulatory requirements. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable process requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating E&S cross-regional underwriting quality assurance self-review and targeted audit review. Responsible for ensuring that process aligns with corporate strategies. Documents issues/trends and works to develop action items to resolve them; reports progress on implemented problem resolution to management.
  • Coordinates and manages the QA Self- Review process. Instrumental in pulling policy lists and selecting policies for review based off of directive from the E&S QA Manager. Manages the Quality Assurance Reviews SharePoint site through the use of the Universal QA Form Generator and Universal Summary Spreadsheet. Ensures that the quarterly QA Self Review process is completed in accordance with corporate standards. Contributes to the completion of self-reviews as needed.
  • Completes targeted reviews in accordance with process requirements in conjunction with developed goals. Identifies and implements improvements by continually reviewing processes and aligning with changing business needs.
  • Assists the E&S QA Manager with self-review summaries and reports; aggregating the data to an enterprise view.
  • Transforms complex data into creative graphs, tables, charts and other graphics in order to present and/or share the data in a comprehensive and concise manner.
  • Generates solutions for needs-improvement within the underwriting community * partners with Contract Binding, Brokerage, Garage, Legal, Compliance, Product Development, Information Technology, Business Services Unit (BSU) and Training functions as necessary.
  • Assists with corporate and internal audits by being a resource to those stakeholders. Ensures adequate controls for corrective action plans derived from these reviews.
  • Participates in the execution of external General Agent audits by identifying agents to audit, organizing policies pull lists for review that exhibit a cross section of the agent's book of business and preparing selected policies in The Quality Assurance Review SharePoint site. Acts as a liaison to general agent hosts ensuring agent's offices are prepared for the auditors.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Strong project management & organizational skills. Multi-line underwriting technical skills.
  • Understanding of state and regulatory requirements in the insurance industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including collaboration, ability to influence and presentation abilities.
  • Strong proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel.

Education and Experience

  • College degree in risk management, business, finance or a related field preferred
  • 7+ years of E&S commercial lines underwriting experience

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
