Position: Chief Engineer Department: Maintenance FLSA Status: Exempt from overtime Reports to: Chief Operations Officer Reporting on this position: Job Description The Chief Engineer leads maintenance staff and keeps all equipment in good safe working order. Manages utility consumption, operation of boilers, buying of parts and services, plant layout, and equipment installation. Works directly with the Director of Operations to support efficient operations and best customer service. The Chief Engineer also holds primary responsibility for the cleanliness and overall appearance of the plant. This position handles leading the safety program within the plant, ensuring compliance in environmental and safety matters, and for equipment and facility maintenance/repair. The Chief Engineer manages 1-20 Engineers, Electricians, or Custodians within the plant. The Chief Engineer handles the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees. Work Physical and Environment requirements: This position requires constant walking through the service center, carrying tools and equipment of up to 75 pounds on occasion. This position exists within an office and plant environment, including hot, noisy, and wet conditions. Within the plant environment, there is constant exposure to hazards including confined spaces, chemicals, steam under pressure, climbing, working in positions above and under equipment, and throughout and outside of the facility. |
