FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sports Reporter will anchor, report, and produce sports content for the newscast on all platforms. This position will be responsible for gathering information, broadcasting newscasts, and interviewing guests. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties. Duties/Responsibilities
- Read sports news stories and reporter intros from teleprompter.
- Interact, both scripted an unscripted, with other members of the Anchor team and invited guests.
- Produce sports-centric content and interact on social media.
- Remain current on local, national, and international sports news and issues.
- Regularly report and write packages from the set and in the field.
- Write and edit news copy for broadcast and web.
- Organize material, determine emphasis, and write stories in a fair, accurate manner.
- Gather and verify information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research.
- Meet all scheduling and broadcast deadlines.
- Review newscasts to ensure objectives are attained.
- Contribute ideas for stories both daily and long term.
- Act as ambassador for the station to foster public goodwill.
- Transmit information to supervisors for review.
- Report to work to assist with newscasts outside normal work schedule at times of severe weather conditions or breaking news.
- Demonstrate responsibility for all equipment issued by FOX.
- Comply with all FOX Corporate computer requirements.
- Comply with all FOX Corporate and station policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of sports reporting experience at a local television broadcast media outlet, producing and delivering local sports content preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Radio/TV, or related discipline preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently in a high pressure, fast-paced environment, gathering information to discern the newsworthiness of events.
- Excellent editorial judgment and the ability to produce content on all newsroom platforms including television, online, and social media.
- Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and interviewees.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, shifts and shows; early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
- Must have a valid credit card and driver's license.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
- Regularly stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Ability to stand for long periods (1+ hour).
- Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $45.00 per hour.
