Overview

The Project Specialist for the Technology Modernization and Application Governance leads and coordinates various projects within the team. This role acts as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders, and oversees technology modernization projects, budgets, roadmaps, and reports. The employee ensures service delivery according to the Statement of Work, maintains service levels, and minimizes operational issues. Working closely with Service Managers, ITIL process owners, Corporate IT, Architects, and other stakeholders, the Project Specialist ensures compliance with ConEdison's strategy, policies, and standards.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead application technology modernization projects: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of technology modernization initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
  • Ensure service delivery per agreements, maintain service levels, and minimize issues: Manage service delivery to meet contractual agreements, maintain high service levels, and proactively address and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Monitor supplier work, validate information, and clear roadblocks: Supervise supplier activities, verify the accuracy of their work, and remove any obstacles that may hinder project progress.
  • Provide regular IT financial reports and assist with budgeting: Generate and distribute periodic IT financial reports, and support the budgeting process by providing accurate financial data and analysis.
  • Oversee forecasts and report variances: Manage financial forecasting activities and report any variances between actual and projected financial performance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and adjust SLAs: Track supplier performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
  • Process requisitions, review milestones, and manage receipts: Handle the processing of requisitions, review project milestones, and manage the receipt of goods and services.
  • Serve as a liaison to other teams including collaboration with the infrastructure team to review technology obsolescence data, work with the enterprise architecture team on roadmap capabilities and end-of-life procedures and assist the ServiceNow team and IT BSD with application data reports and updates. Ensure familiarity with IT policies and procedures to facilitate effective communication and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree and 2 years of related work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of related work experience or
  • Associate's Degree and 5 years of related work experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of related work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in IT, computer science, business administration,
  • engineering or decision sciences including mathematics, analytics, quantitative methods and 2 years of related work experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, computer science, business administration,
  • engineering or decision sciences including mathematics, analytics, quantitative methods and 3 years of related work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and anticipate work requirements (before being asked) and ability to prioritize deliverables, required.
  • Must be able to plan, organize and lead meetings, required.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of Management, required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, required.
  • Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills, required.
  • Flexibility to work on multiple assignments with changing priorities and stay on schedule/on budget, required.
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably within IT modernization or technology transformation projects, preferred.
  • Ability to engage in technical discussions and provide insights on application upgrades and technology planning, preferred.
  • Proficiency in generating reports and creating dashboards using tools like Excel, Power BI, or similar, preferred.
  • Experience in working with application code security scan tool such as : CAST, CodeQL, preferred.
  • Experience leading application support group, preferred.
  • Experience managing and negotiating supplier contracts, preferred.
  • Formal Project Management and/or Business Analysis skills, preferred.
  • Experience as a dedicated participant on a medium to large scale systems development project, preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL Service Management processes, preferred.
  • Experience developing and supporting applications and/or databases, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
