POSITION SUMMARY

Are you passionate about environmental stewardship and sustainability? The Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation is seeking a motivated Environmental Coordinator to support a variety of environmental and utility management initiatives, including stormwater management, vegetation management, fueling operations and compliance, utility locates, and GIS data collection and analysis. In this role, you will also assist with wildlife and forestry projects, contributing to conservation efforts and ecosystem resilience. Additionally, you will work closely with the sustainability team to implement projects to help achieve Steamboat's sustainability goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Supervise and coordinate drainage and revegetation projects
  • Plan, install, and maintain stormwater controls
  • Monitor stormwater and conduct and document weekly inspections
  • Coordinate fuel deliveries and assist in preparing monthly fuel reconciliation reports
  • Conduct and document inspections and perform basic maintenance of fuel and oil storage facilities to comply with Colorado OPS, SPCC, and other regulations
  • Collect and analyze data using GIS equipment and mapping software
  • Locate and mark underground utilities
  • Support conservation and ecosystem management efforts
  • Lead herbicide application efforts in accordance with Steamboat's noxious weed program
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental compliance, natural resources, or a related field
  • Knowledge of stormwater controls, fuel storage regulations, and GIS mapping
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage field crews and coordinate projects
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and rugged terrain
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English
  • Must meet SSRC's minimum driving standards and possess a valid driver's license; a successful motor vehicle record background check is required
  • Must maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with various on-mountain departments, external vendors, contractors, and state/federal inspectors
  • Must have or be able to obtain the following certifications:
  • Qualified Construction Stormwater Inspector
  • HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response)
  • Colorado UST (Underground Storage Tank) AB Operator
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Experience operating heavy equipment preferred
  • Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company's Service Excellence standards


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School diploma or GED
  • College degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or similar field preferred


The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Steamboat Springs area base hourly pay range: Starting at $25.00-$30.00 per hour

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions for long periods of time
  • Must ski or snowboard at an intermediate level
