JOB DESCRIPTION

The Automation Quality Engineer will collaborate closely with business, product, and technical stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality software through the implementation of efficient and scalable automation solutions. This position is responsible for verifying the usability and functionality of products, services, and systems. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks, along with strong technical and programming capabilities. They will also demonstrate the ability to engage effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Furthermore, the role will contribute to the definition and implementation of quality standards and testing methodologies aimed at enhancing efficiency, reliability, and overall system performance. This position will play a critical role in advancing the organization's strategic objectives related to production quality and process improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, reusable, and scalable automated test frameworks for UI, API, performance, and integration testing.
  • Create, enhance, and execute automated test scripts to validate software functionality and performance.
  • Integrate test suites with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Creates detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Estimates, prioritizes, plans and coordinates testing activities
  • Executes test cases and / or automation scripts. Identifies and documents defects thoroughly.
  • Contribute to code reviews and provide guidance to junior QA engineers.
  • Applies test standards and testing processes (i.e. SDLC, Agile)
  • Collaborates with internal teams (i.e. developers, product managers, administrators) to understand and solidify requirements
  • Investigates the causes of routine defects and implements new processes and/or solutions (i.e. software upgrade)
  • Installs, configures and maintains testing programs
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage through risk-based and exploratory testing techniques where automation is not feasible.
  • Analyzes quality assurance metrics and creates test summary reports


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in software automation.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages: Java, JavaScript, python, Gherkin, YAML or Groovy.
  • Proven experience with UI automation tools like Selenium WebDriver, XPath/CSS Selectors, Page Object Model(POM), TestNG or JUnit and build tools like Maven or Gradle.
  • Hands-on experience with Data-Driven, Hybrid, and BDD (Behavior Driven Development) frameworks.
  • Extensive experience with API testing, including REST and SOAP through Rest Assured and Postman.
  • Knowledge of QA principles, concepts, systems, industry practices, and standards.
  • Experience writing SQL queries for data validation and test automation.
  • Hands-on experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum development processes.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 20. $71,400 - $149,500
