*Job Title: Tax Analyst Programmer II* Job Description The Tax Analyst Programmer II will maintain existing tax programs and related products, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines from taxing agencies within established deadlines. The role involves research, analysis, and interpretation of federal and state tax legislation, codes, regulations, forms, and instructions. The candidate will apply standard practices and procedures to implement moderate tax product changes via code and internal software.
Responsibilities * Maintain existing tax programs and related products to ensure compliance with taxing agencies' regulations and guidelines. * Research, analyze, and interpret federal and state tax legislation, codes, regulations, forms, and instructions. * Implement moderate tax product changes via code and internal software. * Learn and perform unit testing and quality assurance checks to ensure no unintended changes are introduced during the annual update cycle. * Proactively seek guidance from more experienced team members to develop skills and knowledge. * Work in a team environment using Agile/Scrum methodologies. * Complete expected levels of work within the sprint. * Identify, propose, and implement process improvements in the team or work area. Essential Skills * Strong understanding of federal and state taxation, preferably in multiple tax categories such as business, non-profit, estates, and trusts. * 2-5 years of income tax preparation or analysis experience. * Familiarity with business tax forms: 1120, 1120S, 1065, and 1041. * Technical aptitude to handle interviews and be successful in the role. * Previous in-depth utilization of tax preparation software. * Moderate understanding of software best practices and coding techniques. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Experience in filing at least 30 business tax returns. * Excellent problem-solving skills. * Ability to quickly learn and apply tax content development tools for both print and electronic filing. * Capability to learn testing processes for work validation, whether automated or manual. * Effective interpersonal skills for commitment, communication, and collaboration. * Emotional intelligence, business acumen, professional maturity, and motivation for the role. Work Environment * The role can be worked remotely but requires working in the PT time zone to sync with the team. Candidates will work in an Agile/Scrum environment, utilizing tax content development tools and software best practices. Job Type & Location * This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, California. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
