Position Overview:
Term: 6 months
Location: Parkville, MO
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00; commensurate with experience
Hours: standard business
We are seeking a Software Engineer with a passion for embedded systems, cloud integration, and full-stack software development. This role will contribute to the development of smart HVAC solutions by integrating IoT edge devices with Microsoft Azure services. Ideal candidates will have experience working in cross-platform environments with technologies such as Tauri, Rust, Node.js, and C++.

  • Develop cross-platform desktop and embedded applications using Tauri and Rust on Linux-based systems
  • Design and maintain secure communication pipelines between devices and Microsoft Azure IoT Hub
  • Work with Node.js and C++ for backend and systems-level functionality
  • Collaborate with data engineers and business analysts to integrate APIs with tools like Power BI and RESTful services
  • Ensure robust software design and deployment for connected HVAC devices in industrial environments
  • Optimize performance and reliability of embedded applications on constrained hardware
  • Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and stakeholder meetings
What you will bring to the team:
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Proficient in Rust and C++ in Linux-based embedded systems
  • Experience building applications with Tauri (preferred) or other cross-platform UI frameworks
  • Working knowledge of Node.js and REST APIs
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, especially Azure IoT Hub
  • Exposure to Power BI or similar data visualization tools
  • Solid understanding of IoT architectures and edge-to-cloud data flow
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the HVAC or industrial control systems industry
  • Knowledge of secure device provisioning and cloud telemetry
  • Background in CI/CD for embedded systems
  • Exposure to scripting (Python, PowerShell) for automation
