Your Job

The Wood and Fiber Supply team is seeking a Quality and Reliability Technician to support the transformation of automated technology being driven by the WFS Operations Team. This position will be responsible for the overall system maintenance and reliability for their area while also maintaining quality by collecting, analyzing, and documenting samples. This is a field-based position that will support systems at Georgia Pacific's pulp mills in the SE United States. The base/home location is our facility in Monticello, MS, but this role will travel up to 50% of the time.

Our Team

Georgia-Pacific Wood and Fiber Supply (W&FS), LLC is key to ensuring that GP's 80+ mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber, and chips. W&FS sources its wood from private lands owned by industrial, institutional, or individual landowners.

What You Will Do

  • Participate in and support in all areas to achieve Environmental, Health, and Safety excellence.
  • Troubleshoot, identify, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Work with local operations personnel to understand system related issues and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance logs to include labor hours, critical preventative maintenance findings, precision QA/QC check sheets, work accomplished
  • Perform work orders received from the planner and close out finished work orders in the maintenance system.
  • Utilize specific sampling techniques to ensure accurate and consistent sample collection
  • Maintain reporting documentation to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
  • Support and perform various Chip Quality operations & activities that ultimately ensure the success of WFS.
  • Create and implement SOPs and processes around chip quality auditing, mechanical procedures, and maintenance logs
  • Communicate across all levels of the organization

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience communicating across all levels of an organization
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment including belts, sensors, vibrators, and motors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word)
  • Experience with MP2 or other similar inventory software
  • Willing to travel up to 50%, including overnight travel

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in electro-mechanical field
  • Experience with field service maintenance which could include preventative, predicative, and repair
  • Experience with technical support: machine testing, validations, and/or emulations
  • Operational and functional understanding of industrial automation systems and PLCs (understanding of PLCs and ladder logic)
  • Experience working with planning and scheduling maintenance activities
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar analytical reporting tools
  • Experience performing quality checks according to standard operating procedures
