Principal Surgical Technologist
Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist assists in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and functions as a member of the surgical team during operative procedures. In addition to performing the duties of the Senior Surgical Technologist, the Principal Surgical Technologist functions in a specialty service and utilizes and troubleshoots service implementation and equipment and is a resource to the Surgical Technologists.
The UCSF Bayfront Operating Room (OR) consists of 14 surgical suites and 2 procedural rooms with 23 hours surgical stay facility. Our primary focus is multidisciplinary team-based approach and staffing, advanced technology, including integrated suites and robotic surgery.
Services include, but are not limited to: Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck (OHNS), Urology, Benign Gynecology, Plastics, Pain Service, and General Surgery with Robotics.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $53.26 - $66.37 (Hourly Rate). Required Qualifications
- Three years recent scrubbing clinical experience in an operating room
- Recent experience (within the last two years) scrubbing in at least three of the following service lines: Pain/Spine, Ophthalmology, GYN, GU, General Surgery, OHNS, Robotics and Plastics
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR for healthcare providers
- Graduate of Surgical Technologist training program; or equivalent experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least two of the surgical specialties listed above
- Demonstrated skills in precepting, time management, and organization of supplies and equipmen
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist
- Scrub experience in Ophthalmology, OHNS, Robotics
License/Certification
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR for healthcare providers
