Overview

Milliman's Indianapolis Health Practice is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Healthcare Associate to support our growing practice. The Healthcare Associate will research, analyze, and synthesize qualitative information, including clinical evidence and coverage-related items. They will then develop client deliverables in collaboration with other team members. The Healthcare Associate will be responsible for tracking the review and approval status of material through internal and external review processes. The Healthcare Associate supports project managers for multiple client teams. As part of the career development pathway, the Healthcare Associate will be incorporated into strategic and operational planning discussions for client accounts.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:



  • Analyze qualitative research such as literature findings or policy and summarize findings in a meaningful way via PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Accurately reference and annotate all work
  • Track progress on detailed project plans to serve as a critical communication tool for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure work products are efficiently routed through client-specific medical, regulatory, and/or legal review by managing and becoming a subject-matter expert on submission and approval processes
  • Engage internal subject matter experts as required to facilitate content creation and development
  • Support quality assurance procedures for the practice and conduct reviews
  • Manage personal workload and workflow while assigned to multiple projects


Qualifications



  • Knowledge of U.S. healthcare system, medical societies, and advocacy organizations
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and processes, particularly those related to billing and reimbursement of prescription medications
  • Experience in performing secondary medical research (e.g., literature review, industry research) and citing work in AMA format
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Aptitude for understanding and interpreting data (qualitative and quantitative) then communicating results
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing requests and taking initiative with prioritization shifts
  • Significant attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to adhere to established processes
  • Ability to work independently and desire to work in a pragmatic, fast-paced environment
  • Natural curiosity and learning agility when faced with an unfamiliar subject


Required



  • Degree concentration in a healthcare-related field with 2-5 years of professional experience at:


    • A pharmaceutical manufacturer
    • A consulting firm serving a pharmaceutical manufacturer
    • A major payer or PBM
    • A hospital system
    • A specialty pharmacy


  • Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint to effectively depict material in a meaningful way
  • Ability to perform minor tasks in Microsoft Excel or other similar software for quantitative analysis
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills


Preferred



  • Knowledge of the contracting by payers for prescription medications, formulary development, prior authorization criteria development
  • Therapeutic area experience in any of the following: oncology, inflammation, gene therapy, primary care and others
  • Experience in sales or marketing

The Team

The pharmaceutical consulting team is a group of 60+ individuals in the Indianapolis Health practice from varying backgrounds including actuaries, data analysts, pharmacists, and graphic designers. This group works primarily with pharmaceutical manufacturers by combining healthcare and payer knowledge, available data, analytic rigor, and industry experience to produce strategic and tactical insights for their clients.

Location

The person hired for this role will work in a dynamic, hybrid environment, with 2 to 3 days per week of on-site work required in our Indianapolis office on a weekly basis.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $78,800 - $126,200. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc. In addition, we offer a performance-based bonus-plan, profit sharing, and generous benefits.
