Job Summary

The Childcare Specialist plays a vital role in supporting families by conducting casework and applying creative problem-solving strategies to help them access high-quality, affordable childcare. This meaningful position involves working closely with families and childcare providers to complete intakes, determine eligibility, manage cases, and respond to service requests.
Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing and implementing family-centered service plans, and coordinating services across departments, county agencies, and community organizations. The role also involves processing purchase orders and payments related to childcare services. This position offers the opportunity for ongoing collaboration with agency case managers, childcare providers, local nonprofits, and regional service networks.

Responsibilities of this position will include (but may not be limited to) the following:
- Conducting client assessments.
- Evaluating service needs.
- Coordinating and collaborating with other professionals to develop plans for individuals and families.
- Conducting crisis intervention and making client referrals.
- Coordinating and conducting workshop.
- Determining eligibility for assistance; applying federal, state, and local guidelines to determine eligibility; conducting thorough interviews; requesting necessary verifications; processing monitored cases; and adhering to all mandates, policies, and procedures.
- Developing daycare resources; developing activities, programs, resources, and vendors to support daycare programs; making referrals to and coordinating services and resources in the community to provide comprehensive services.
- Managing daycare caseload; meeting all state, local, and federal mandates and requirements for interviewing clients, processing applications, organizing and documenting case records. Evaluating and substantiating eligibility criteria. Ensuring case closure follows appropriate procedure.
- Maintaining program documentation.
- May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Pass pre-employment credit, criminal, and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. Bi-lingual skills in English and Spanish preferred.
