We're seeking a future team member for the role of Head of Municipal Trading to join our Markets team. This role is located in New York, NY - Hybrid. Role Overview: The BNY Markets business helps our clients formulate, implement and operationalize their investment strategies. It provides clients with financing, execution, liquidity and collateral solutions that are integrated with BNY's asset servicing ecosystem. Within the Markets division, Global Markets Trading is comprised of the Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, Equities, and Origination businesses. Our Fixed Income business trade a wide variety of securities and can connect clients to a unique universe of counterparties, including broker-dealers, fund managers, family offices and wealth managers. The Head of Municipal Trading position will be part of the Fixed Income team within BNY Capital Markets, reporting to the Head of Fixed Income Trading. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Manage a team of municipal bond traders to drive revenue in collaboration with Institutional Sales and Product partners.
- Perform market analysis and valuation, develop trading strategies and identifying opportunities to capitalize innovative trading ideas and entry into new markets.
- Strengthen and foster client relationships across the BNY enterprise, identifying areas of opportunity to grow the business and be more for clients.
- Appropriately assess risk and reward for a variety of transactions to meet pre-determined budget goals.
- Assess existing capabilities and develop strategy to drive business growth.
- Responsible for achieving organic incremental growth from existing clients and locate potential prospects through in-depth industry research and an understanding of the market environment, including short- and long-term trends, fixed income market conditions, competitor offerings, regulatory developments etc.
- Work closely with related teams and other firm-wide resources (marketing, legal, compliance, etc.) to ensure all risk management/compliance activities relevant to business development activities are conducted and captured.
- Tracks and reports on business development results.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Excellent communication skills as well as quantitative capabilities.
- The necessary professional licenses including FINRA Series 7, 52, 53, 63 and 24, or the ability to promptly obtain such licenses.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance, economics, political science, or other related field.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience as a municipal bond trader, either at a Broker Dealer or Investment/Asset Management firm.
- Strong knowledge of the municipal bond market, across the spectrum of municipal sectors for tax-exempt and taxable bonds
- Depth in risk management principles, business development acumen, and knowledge of electronic and algorithmic trading preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of repeatable revenue performance.
- Excellent decision making, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to make real-time trading decisions weighing complex circumstances under time pressure.
- FINRA licensing required within six months of employment.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $127,000 and $273,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
