Claims Handler

This position will be supporting our Final Mile Home Delivery business, the final piece to our integrated logistics strategy where we are tasked with big and bulky home delivery and installation all done through our network of service providers. You will manage, handle, and follow the activities of the property damage claim process through close interactions with stakeholders by providing timely acknowledgements on new receipts, investigation, and insurance reporting when necessary. You will also be responsible for direct settlement negotiations with the claimant and the finalization of the claim which includes coordination and execution of the General Release, claim payment, and closure of the claim case in our claims management system. This role will be responsible for small to moderate losses, typically 1-2 rooms of damage. Independent judgement/discretion up to $3,000.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor new assignments in the medium in which our customer provides them, contacting new receipts directly assigned to you within 24 hours.
  • Serve as the local liaison between claimants and our service providers, keeping the claimant informed every step of the way and working to drive claim conclusion with 30 days.
  • Providing thorough and concise weekly status updates on claims that are older than 30 days.
  • Create and maintain claim file in accordance with company best practices and audit requirements.
  • Assist legal teams globally gather internal and external information and documentation for defense purposes on lawsuits and/or other legal proceedings.
  • Meet or exceed call queue metrics, taking ownership of inquiry calls and problem solving in real time
  • Stakeholder management: we support our stakeholders with their business and solicit their feedback regularly.
  • Mitigate liability exposure by providing root cause analysis and help establish preventative measures and/or changes in processes/policies when warranted.
  • Experience in a task-based work environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Advanced or Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience with Property Damaged, Construction, Insurance claims.
  • Quantitative experience of related activity.
  • Microsoft Office and Windows proficiency
  • Strong written/oral communications, bilingual a plus
  • Moderate knowledge of home construction and repair methodology.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Domestic Travel is expected less than 10% of time.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $55,000 - $60,000*

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for Health Insurance, Paid Time Off, and 401k Match.

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
