Valiant is looking for a Joint Training Exercise Planner to join our team. This position is an Exempt position, providing Joint Training Analytical Support Services for EUCOM/SOCEUR. This program provides analytical support to all aspects of the EUCOM Joint Training and Exercise Program and the execution of all phases of the Joint Training System to include military staff training, military exercise planning, simulations programming, Department of Defense budgeting, Joint Event Life Cycle event design, event facilitation, military exercise control, exercise assessments, and readiness and lessons learned analysis.The Joint Training Exercise Planner will advise and assist Government leads in the development and implementation of the EUCOM Joint Exercise Program (JEP). Produce, coordinate, and manage all required messages, pre and post briefs, and support documents, presentations, and spreadsheets for all JELC events. Synchronize support to JEP events, as requested/required, from exercise JELCs and executions to EUCOM JEP planning and coordination conferences. Innovate improvements to processes and products across Joint Exercise (JEX) Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Facilitate the coordination and implementation of the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC).


  • Develop exercise JELC planning conferences / events timelines.


  • Deconflict JELC conferences / events with other USEUCOM exercise planners and components.


  • Coordinate and assist exercise Action Officers as required in the various exercise planning stages.


  • Produce, coordinate, and manage all required messages, pre and post briefs, and support documents, presentations, and spreadsheets for all JELC events.


  • Establish and maintain Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) schedules to ensure coordination and timely execution of exercise tasks and actions.


  • Advises the uniformed military lead planner on development and composition of the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG) manning document.


  • Provide technical expertise, advice, and assistance to the Branch Chief and staff.


  • Coordinate with NATO, component, and Joint Staff J7 personnel.


  • Manage the Joint Training Tool (JTT) to assist planning for joint and combined exercises.


  • Craft GO/FO level Automated Message Handling System (AMHS) messages.


  • Develops and builds exercise In Progress Review (IPR) briefs for ECJ3/5/7 Directors and senior leaders.


  • Assists in the development and composition of the exercise TASKORD for assigned exercises.


  • Provide exercise support to other USEUCOM J7 exercise planning teams as directed outside of assigned exercises.
  • Provide support of standard Staff Officer functions.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance and meet other eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Active TS/SCI preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (Master'spreferred) from an accredited college or university




  • 10+ of Military/DoD Civilian/DoD Contractor experience
  • 2+ years CCMD HQ experience


  • Multi-theater operational or senior staff (CCMD and/or Joint Staff) experience desired if candidate has no USEUCOM-associated staff experience.


  • Must be able to travel to countries in the USEUCOM Area of Responsibility.


  • Shouldhave a working knowledge of United States' Interagency processes and government agency activities andcoordinating processes between USEUCOM Theater and strategic levels.


  • Able to work under stress andcomplete short-fused requirements.


  • Flexibility to work extended hours in support of exercise requirements.


  • Possess the skills and experience in Microsoft Office computer programs (specifically Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).


  • Understanding of NATO and itsprocesses.


  • Experience and proven ability to organize/manage several projects.


  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.



ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees. Office environment, occasionally outdoors. Occasional exposure to natural conditions existing at different locationsaround the US.
