Position Summary:

Nestle Health Science is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced attorney to take the helm of our litigation efforts. In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in safeguarding our corporate assets and enhancing our reputation by expertly navigating legal challenges. Your strategic oversight will not only involve defending against litigation but also proactively identifying potential risks, enforcing our rights, and spearheading recovery initiatives. We seek candidates who are not only skilled in providing high-quality, actionable legal counsel but also possess the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, impactful insights for our business leaders. Reporting to the General Counsel and Head of Legal, the candidate for this role needs to live within a commutable distance to Bridgewater, New Jersey.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting early assessments of all threatened and pending litigation
  • Developing and implementing successful litigation and case resolution strategies
  • Selecting and actively managing outside legal counsel
  • Ensuring consistency in litigation management and implementing Group litigation strategy
  • Advising the Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting of litigation risks and expenditures
  • Counseling C-suite executives on critical litigation-related decisions
  • Collaborating with Media and Government Relations teams to mitigate reputational risks
  • Working closely with business lawyers and other legal specialists, including employment, regulatory, and intellectual property specialists
  • Collaborating closely with legal colleagues at the parent company in Vevey, Switzerland
  • Directing and supervising e-discovery efforts
  • Reviewing and editing legal briefs and motions
  • Managing and deploying litigation paralegals
  • Tracking and optimizing litigation spend and utilizing IT tools for cost-effectiveness

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Current bar membership
  • 10+ years of experience in litigation
  • Strong background in all facets of litigation, including depositions, hearings, and trials
  • Ability to challenge and appropriately question experienced outside litigation counsel to test their positions and recommendations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for complex issue communication

  • Experience in conducting live and online trainings on digital media and online business activities
  • High level of analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to achieve results and exhibit superior initiative

The approximate pay range for this position is $240,000- $290,000 base. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
