Position: Childbirth Educator
Shift: (2) Childbirth Series and 1- 2 supplemental class monthly. During the week evening hours are needed. During weekend class could be morning, afternoon or evenings. A Childbirth series is (2) class which are 2.5 classes each. Supplement classes approx. 60 minutes each

Experience:

  1. For RNs, to teach Childbirth Education programming (Prepared Childbirth Series, Welcoming Baby, Labor Comfort Measures) a minimum three years of recent/current clinical experience in OB for nurses. Labor and Delivery clinical experience preferred.
  2. For Certified Childbirth Educators (non-RN) to teach Childbirth Education programming (Prepared Childbirth Series, Welcoming Baby, Labor Comfort Measures)- a Minimum of three years of Childbirth Education teaching experience.
  3. Evidence of training and/or experience in teaching techniques.

    Education:
    1. Graduate of approved school of nursing OR certification through a nationally recognized organization is required in classes taught by non-RNs.
    2. Baccalaureate degree required to teach non-prepared childbirth education classes, if not an RN.

    Licensures/Certifications:
    1. A current RN license to practice in Pennsylvania or class specialty certification (childbirth education, The Happiest Baby) required.
    2. Membership in related field professional organization preferred.
    3. Certification in specialty related field preferred.
    4. PR Certification Required (BLS or AHA Heart Saver)
    5. Childbirth Instructors who are hired to teach Specialty Classes: Lactation and The Happiest Baby certification is required prior to teaching.
