Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $69,500/year to $75,000/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $69,500/year to $123,500/year.

Learn more about the benefits of working at UC Brief Summary of Job Duties: Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the Divisional Financial Analyst is responsible for independently managing and coordinating a complex and diverse portfolio of financial and budgetary duties for the Division of Social Sciences in the College of Letters and Science. Researches, analyzes data, forecasts, and tracks, summarizes and communicates the financial and administrative components of a variety of divisional commitments, initiatives and special projects. Manages a complex set of accounts and funds, each with unique restrictions and controls and composes and/or edits professional business correspondence and reports. Researches and prepares financial spreadsheets and reports for the Division. Serves as a resource to budget officers and financial staff in the division. Provides management of divisional digital presence and outreach efforts, including divisional websites, social media strategy, and initiative-based outreach to campus community and the general public. Supervises and trains the Social Sciences Administrative Coordinator. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related area and /or equivalent experience / training.
- 4-6 years of experience working with financial processes, data management and reporting.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities
- Strong organizational skills

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
- 55% Financial/Budget Management - Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, oversees and manages accounts for the Division of Social Sciences (SOSC) including provisional, departmental, start-up, gift and special account-funds. Monitors status of departmental and divisional accounts and budgets. Coordinates, monitors, and tracks funding requests for departmental support and other one-time needs; research proposals and other multi-year commitments; temporary and permanent commitments; and start-up and retention packages. Ensures all divisional commitments are recorded in divisional database and processes transfers of funds in the campus transfer of funds system. Reports on and provides analysis of all expenditures, commitments and balances. Manages Endowed Chair funding and payouts for the division. Manages divisional and departmental/research center gifts and endowments, developing and maintaining reports and tracking systems. Tracks, projects, and reports on expenditures, commitments, and balances for divisional accounts and advises on appropriate account-fund usage. Maintains budgetary accountability and controls. Manages the reconciliation of Dean's divisional accounts to campus General Ledger on a monthly basis, including payroll ledger. Conducts fiscal closing activities for departmental and divisional accounts, including temporary sub 0. Provides analyses of all fiscal activities of the divisional budget. Prepares financial reports and projections in the form of spreadsheets, graphs, charts, and tables, encompassing the entire range and scope of divisional accounts. Conducts analyses on budgets, resource allocations and expenditures to assess financial viability and identify issues for the Dean and Assistant Dean for further review. Manages, processes, coordinates, and approves a variety of financial transactions, such as Transfer of Expense, Transfer of Funds, FlexCard, Gateway, inter-campus transfer of funds, and financial journals. In coordination with the Assistant Dean, serves as a resource to budget/department officers and financial managers in the division, answering questions, interpreting policy, providing information and solving problems as necessary. Performs complex financial and/or resource related research for various internal and external department constituents. Independently gathers and analyzes data and information, recommending appropriate options or actions and prepares and presents the results, both orally and in writing. Researches, analyzes, and advises on new/existing policies and processes and provides written and/or oral summaries to the Dean and Assistant Dean.
- 25% Analytical and Special Projects Support - Participates as a member of the SOSC administrative management team. Provides comprehensive analytical support, utilizing knowledge of campus policies, to the division on a wide range of topics including but not limited to academic and staff FTE; staff appointments and salaries; divisional budgets, research center budgets; start up and retention budgets, and short and long term planning for the Division. Analyzes new policies and provides written summaries to the Dean; assists in implementing required changes in procedures. Researches statistics and other information using resources including the Planning Data Book, internet and libraries. Analyzes and prepares spreadsheets, graphs, tables, statistical reports, and presentations. Writes/drafts documents and reports for the Dean's consideration. Acts as a representative of the Dean in supporting SOSC faculty/departments with proposals for new centers, programs, emphases, and name changes; monitors the process of proposal development and approval. Manages from conception to completion projects/actions for the division including developing objectives, policies, planning, and directing numerous and varied projects and activities not limited to the annual divisional FTE Plan, report to the Council on Planning & Budget (CPB), academic program reviews, MOUs, donor-funded special curricular initiatives, divisional student and faculty award programs and outreach events. Provides administrative support to the Division and College, specifically to the Dean, the Assistant Dean, and the Associate Deans.
- 15% Administrative Support - Supports Divisional academic departments on frequent matter that need troubleshooting and/or control point assistance or advice. Works with appropriate Divisional staff and other campus offices to resolve complex problems in a wide range of operational and personnel functions utilizing sound judgement, applying UC policy and procedure, confidentiality and excellent interpersonal skills. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Administers several award and fellowship programs in conjunction with the Associate and Assistant Dean. Compiles and reports Chair appointments to the EVC's office annually. Acts as Manager/Supervisor for the Division's publication and electronic presence including production of divisional website, maintenance and content management, collects and catalogs graphics and trains divisional assistant on routine maintenance and updates to the website. Oversees communication media with divisional department staff, campus offices such as Office of public Affairs, the Communications Director and greater campus and public community.
- 5% Staff Supervision - Supervises the Assistant to the Dean of Social Sciences. Ensures high standards of customer service and professionalism in the Dean's Office. Provides training and ensures production is at the highest levels to successfully meet job responsibilities and performance standards. Assigns work, evaluates workload on a regular basis, reviews requests for time off, approves time-cards, conducts annual performance evaluations, and provides regular feedback on performance. In conjunction with the Assistant Dean, management and HR, works on disciplinary action when necessary on any grievance and/or discharge issues.
